A joint action day led by the EU border agency Frontex and supported by the OLAF, the European Anti-Fraud Office, has led to the seizure of 6.7 million illegal cigarettes and 2.6 tonnes of raw tobacco, along with half a tonne of illegal drugs.

A working arrangement as basis for coordination and cooperation between their two offices was signed today in Luxembourg by Ville Itälä, Director-General of the European Anti-Fraud Office and the European Chief Prosecutor, Laura Kӧvesi.

Over 1,200 tonnes of illegal pesticides were seized as part of the 2021 Operation Silver Axe, the Europol-led operation which involved 35 different countries and led to seizures of illegal and counterfeit products worth an estimated €80 million.
