OLAF welcomes its new Director-General, Mr Ville Itälä

Mr Ville Itälä joins the European Anti-Fraud Office (OLAF) as Director-General as of 1 August 2018. He will have a seven year, non-renewable term.

Professional background

Before joining OLAF, Mr Itälä was a member of the European Court of Auditors for six years, and prior to that, a Member of the European Parliament.

In his native Finland, he held the positions of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior.

He obtained a Master in Law from Turku University, in Finland, and a Master in Law with court training from Vehmaa District Court.

As well as Finnish, he speaks English and Swedish.
