Over 80 participants took part in this year’s OLAF Anti-Fraud Communicators' Network (OAFCN) meeting where discussion ranged from communication on the Recovery and Resilience Facility to best practices from national authorities in Greece, Italy, Latvia and Slovakia and the use of podcasts!

The 31st annual virtual meeting of the OLAF Anti-Fraud Communicators’ Network took place on 26 January 2022. During the event, partners from across the EU anti-fraud community had the chance to interact and exchange best communication practices. There was also great interest in an OLAF presentation on the Union Anti-Fraud Programme and its Hercule component.

The meeting heard from representatives of OLAF, member states, EPPO, Eurojust, Europol, and DG ECFIN on their recent activities. Topics included work carried out at both national and institutional level to communicate on the European Commission’s Recovery and Resilience Facility (RRF), an explanation on how the RRF scoreboard operates and an inspirational presentation of the anti-fraud communication activities on the Slovak Recovery and Resilience Plan.

During a session focused on case studies from the member states, a representative from Latvia shared her experience of organising a two-day conference aimed at strengthening cooperation between stakeholders involved in the fight against fraud. Moreover, a representative from Italy presented a project ("CATONE") funded by the Hercule III programme supporting actions to combat irregularities, fraud and corruption affecting the EU budget. Greek partners also shared the network and communication practices of the National Transparency Authority.

The meeting concluded with a tour de table to gain members' insights and experiences over the last year and share their most successful communication actions of 2021. An interactive brainstorming session took place to develop a joint communication action plan for 2022, with many members indicating an interest in using podcasts to highlight the work they do.
